As we know the main character, or the person “writing the poems” name is Jessie. She is a teenage girl with strong opinions that she isn’t afraid of sharing, which sometimes might lead to some trouble with her parents, teachers, or of course her younger brother Robert.

This blog is going to be about the poem “talking to my stupid younger brother (is like swimming upstream in a river of nowhere)” which, you guessed it is about Jessie talking to her younger brother Robert. Robert is like any annoying little brother/sister I would know because I am the youngest of 6 other siblings and two of them live with me. He likes to annoy everyone, he is stubborn and he thrives to steal spotlight off of everyone except himself .

This poem starts off with Robert burping really loud and like anybody would do Jessie yells at him to say “excuse me” because that’s what somebody’s supposed to do when they burp. Robert would do what any annoying younger sibling would do and starts being stubborn and telling Jessie off for all the things she is supposed to do and doesn’t do. After that discussion Robert sneezes and says “excuse me” to be polite. Jessie tries to explain to Robert that when you sneeze you don’t say excuse me that people are supposed to say “bless you”. He laughed at the point that somebody has to bless him because he sneezed.

At the end of this poem they get in a “shut up”, “no you shut up” argument which all siblings should well know they might still be stuck in the “shut up” circle to this day.
